Using a Wiki for Collaborative Learning

A wiki is a collaborative web site that can be used to gather and organize content (Educase, 2005). It is an online space where several users can post information and collaborate on creating a knowledge base for specific content. Good examples of effective public wikis are Wikipedia and Wikihow.

Many businesses use wikis to provide their employees with information from how to use software to human resources procedures. In education, wikis can be used for collaborating on group projects, developing case studies, posting lessons and instructions, and providing a discussion and feedback space to name a few (Bhaskar, 2013).

In this discussion, you will use the resources provided, combined with your own research to explain the advantages and disadvantages of using wikis as a collaboration tool for education. You will also provide your opinion or discuss a personal experience using a wiki in education.

In addition, post your opinion about using a wiki as a collaborative tool or discuss a personal experience with using a wiki for this purpose. Make sure you cite your sources in the text and provide a reference list in APA format.

By Day 5

Respond to at least two of your classmates by expanding on their ideas and/or asking relevant questions to build on the conversation. Make sure you cite sources or provide additional resources on the discussion subject.
